Known as the ‘golden hour,’ the first 60 minutes after a heart attack are crucial. The patient needs to receive proper medical assistance. A compact and easy-to-use biosensing platform that can be used outside hospital settings by the patient or the ambulance staff is vital. The EU-funded HAMP project proposes a wearable and wireless system for early and quick diagnosis of a heart attack outside the hospital setting. HAMP consists of a microneedle-based capacitive biosensor for in situ sampling and measuring cardiac biomarkers from the skin.
